The Department of Chemotherapy, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, was established in 1995. After 25 years of development, it has become one of the featured departments of Qilu Hospital. The department has three wards, 102 official beds, and 130 open beds. We conduct medical service and scientific research on various solid tumors such as lung cancer, breast cancer, gastric cancer, intestinal cancer, esophageal cancer, and urogenital tumors. The average hospital staying time in the center 4 & 5 wards is 3.1 days, and the annual number of admissions and discharges has exceeded 12,000. The medical team has 29 people, including nine chief physicians and eight associate chief physicians. Fifteen of them have doctoral degrees. In recent years, great progress has been made in medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research.

As a featured department of a teaching hospital of Qilu Medical College of Shandong University, our department strictly abides by the principles of standardization and individualization in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of cancer, and actively participates in the establishment of the Qilu Hospital's multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment team (MDT) for lung cancer, liver cancer, gastric cancer, and colorectal cancer. In the meantime, combined with the progress of disciplines and based on patients' needs, several specialty clinics have been opened, including melanoma clinics, immunotherapy clinics, neuroendocrine tumor clinics, and minimally invasive clinics. While standardizing the application of chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immune therapy, endocrine therapy, and other drug treatment strategies, we actively develop and apply new tumor diagnosis and treatment technologies. The routine development and experience accumulation of tumor biopsy under the guidance of CT, ultrasound, and microwave ablation technology has allowed our department to make breakthroughs in the pathological diagnosis of newly treated tumor patients. At present, the department has an annual operation volume of nearly 400 cases.

The Department of Chemotherapy is a doctoral and master's degree-granting unit of Shandong University in oncology. There are currently two doctoral supervisors and seven master supervisors. It has trained more than 100 doctoral and master students, more than 150 oncology residents, and 35 oncology clinical pharmacists. It has successively established academic organizations such as the Special Committee of Tumor Molecular Markers and Targeted Therapy of Shandong Society of Immunology, the Special Committee of Neuroendocrine Tumor of Shandong Physician Society, and the Society of Tumor Chemotherapy of Shandong Research Hospital Association. Regular academic conferences and new development training are held. We also actively undertake the tasks of educational exchange and continuing education in oncology in Shandong Province.

At the same time, the Department of Chemotherapy has carried out a lot of clinical and basic research in oncology.
