On October 6, the English version of
Chinese Experts’ Consensus on Intracardiac Echocardiography written by Professor Zhong Jingquan and Academician Zhang Yun from the Department of Cardiology of Qilu Hospital was published in
Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine (Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) Journal ranking Q2, five-year IF：6.22). The Chinese version of the consensus will be published in
Chinese Journal of Cardiac Pacing and Elec Trophysiology on October 25. This consensus is the first experts’ consensus on intracardiac echocardiography in the world. Professor Zhong Jingquan is the first author, and the Key Laboratory of Cardiovascular Remodeling and Function Research of MOE and NHC is the first author’s and the corresponding author’s affiliation.
Intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) refers to the placement of an ultrasound probe at the top of the catheter, which is transported to the heart cavity through peripheral blood vessels, which can directly see the heart and large blood vessels. It is an ultrasound imaging technology of the real-time high-quality imaging and/or hemodynamic measurement of the heart and its adjacent tissues by using the ultrasound probe sent into the heart cavity through peripheral blood vessels. With the cardiac intervention becoming popular and an increase in complexity of surgeries, the demand for intraoperative imaging is growing higher, so ICE is more frequently used in different types of cardiac intervention.
In view of the lack of guidelines and expert consensus on ICE at home and abroad, the research team led by Academician Zhang Yun of the Key Laboratory of Cardiovascular Remodeling and Function Research of MOE and NHC summoned the national first-line experts in the fields of interventional heart disease and cardiac echocardiography to work on the consensus. Through joint efforts of the authors and reviewers, the English version of
Chinese Experts’ Consensus on Intracardiac Echocardiography was published in the international journal
Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine.
The consensus describes the main clinical applications of ICE in detail, and summarizes the flow chart and expert suggestions. It mainly includes catheter ablation of arrhythmia (including atrial septal puncture, radiofrequency ablation of atrial fibrillation, cryoablation of atrial fibrillation, etc.), interventional therapy of congenital heart disease (including patent foramen ovale, atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, patent ductus arteriosus, etc.), interventional therapy of valvular heart disease (including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter mitral valve intervention, transcatheter tricuspid interventional therapy, transcatheter pulmonary valve interventional therapy etc.), left atrial appendage occlusion (left atrial appendage closure). LAAC), implantation of left ventricular assist device, myocardial biopsy, radiofrequency ablation of interventricular septum and electrode lead extraction in hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, etc.
The release of
Chinese Experts’ Consensus on Intracardiac Echocardiography is of great significance to further promote the standardized clinical application of ICE, improve the process of interventional diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, increase the success rate of operation and reduce complications.
