Opening ceremony of the First School of Clinical Medicine of Shandong University was held at the Academic Exchange Center of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University on December 2. Fan Liming, President of Shandong University, attended the ceremony and unveiled the First Clinical College. Chen Hongwei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Shandong University, Yi Fan, Vice President of Shandong University and Dean of Cheeloo College of Medicine, Liu Hongwei, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Shandong University, Cheeloo College of Medicine, Li Jian Minister of Personnel Department of Shandong University and Director of Talent Work Office, Zhou Chuanjian, Dean of Shandong University Science and Technology Research Institute, Qu Bo, Executive Deputy Dean, Ma Chunhong, Deputy Dean, Liu Qiji, Deputy Dean, and Wang Lixiang, Deputy Dean of Shandong University Undergraduate School attended the meeting. Yi Fan expressed that establishment of the first clinical college is of great significance. As a "carrier" for the coordinated development of medical service, teaching and research, the college will effectively promote the three go hand in hand, laying a good foundation for the comprehensive development of the hospital's career; high-level talents are directly included in the school's teaching staff, which will promote the implementation of the strategy of "strengthening the school with talents". Relying on the platform of the clinical college, the hospital can better create a "peak" for talent introduction and education; the first clinical college is directly incorporated into the school's integrated teaching and research development system, and the hospital can give full play to the advantages of relying on a comprehensive university and its own high-quality resources, and better leverage the school's multidisciplinary advantages to promote the sustainable development of the hospital. Yi Fan hopes that Qilu Hospital will take this opportunity to actively explore innovative models of medical education, build a model of morality and education and a benchmark for medical education, provide "Qilu experience" for the development of medical education, and continue to polish the "Qilu Medicine" brand.
Hou Junping stressed that cadres and staff of the hospital should bear in mind the hope and entrustment of the school, as well as the original aspiration and mission of the school, focus on the extraordinary, leapfrog, and high-quality development of the hospital, and conscientiously implement the construction of the clinical college. Based on the foundation of "fostering character and civic virtue", it should take the construction of the new medical department as an opportunity, diligently and conscientiously build and develop the college, and cultivate and educate clinical students with heart, strength, emotion and wisdom. Efforts should be invested to cultivate medical talents with noble medical ethics and superb medical skills in the new era of "five techniques", and the carrying forward Qilu medical brand will contribute new and greater strength to the construction of a healthy China and a strong education country, and to realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Chen Yuguo pointed out that the establishment of the First Clinical College is a milestone event that conforms to the national policy orientation, meets the needs of the school's "double first-class" construction, and promotes the overall development of the hospital. The hospital must strengthen active planning and bravely undertake the mission of educating people; it must deepen the reform of the teaching system and build a high-level teaching team; it must innovate the management mechanism and strengthen the conditional support.
