The Department of Thoracic Surgery of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University was Awarded as the “Outstanding Unit of National Nutrition Guidance Center for Cancer Patients”

On April 9-10, “The Fourth CSCO Chinese Cancer Nutrition and Comprehensive Treatment Conference” was held in Hangzhou. At the award ceremony of the National Nutrition Guidance Center Construction Program for Cancer Patients, the Department of Thoracic Surgery of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University was awarded as the “Outstanding Unit of National Nutrition Guidance Center for Cancer Patients” by Chinses Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO).
 


In recent years, under the leadership of Tian Hui, the academic leader of the discipline and vice president of the hospital, the Department of Thoracic Surgery of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University has actively carried out the construction of the Nutrition Guidance Center for Cancer Patients. The department set up a nutrition treatment group, established and perfected nutrition standard treatment system according to the program’s course and the department’s reality, and formed documents and regulations. Staff of the department have diagnosed and treated patients by nutrition standards in accordance with their duties, including nutritional risk screening and assessment, standardized nutrition treatment, follow-up education of patients and communicating with national guidance centers, which have achieved good clinical results.
 
This CSCO Chinese Cancer Nutrition and Comprehensive Treatment Conference has awarded 11 “Outstanding Unit of National Nutrition Guidance Center for Cancer Patients”. As one of them, the Department of Thoracic Surgery of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University will further improve nutrition quality control for cancer patients, give full play to the leading and radioactive role as an “Outstanding Unit of National Nutrition Guidance Center for Cancer Patients”, actively provide cancer patients with nutrition guidance and training to benefit a mass of cancer patients and their families.
