Professor Xiaoyan Xiao is an united trained Ph.D of Yale University School of Medicine and a visiting scholar of Harvard University School of Medicine. She is   the member of Nephropathy Group, Diabetes and Microcirculation Committee, Chinese Society of Microcirculation;  the member and secretary of the Basic committee of Nephrology physician Branch of Shandong Medical Doctor Association; the deputy leader of Youth Group of Shandong Branch of Hemopurification; the deputy chair of Special Committee of Kidney disease of Shandong Society of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine; the member of Professional Group of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Nephrology Branch of Shandong Medical Association; and the deputy director of the Intelligent Information Processing Research Center of Shandong University.
 
Her main research area is the pathogenesis of chronic kidney disease. Presently, she is in charge of 1 national-level project, 3 provincial-level projects and 3 college-level teaching projects. She has published 18 SCI publications as the first author and corresponding author, has 2 invention patents, 1 provincial and ministerial Award, and "Young Scientists Award" by Japan Cancer Society.
