Xuting Zhi is currently the director of the Department of Hepatobiliary Surger. He is also the standing committee member of the Liver Cancerc Committee of the Chinese Medical Doctors Association(CMDA), the standing committee member of the Hepatic Surgeon Committee of the Chinese Medical Doctors Association , the standing committee member of the Committee of Molecular Diagnostics and head of the Group of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Oncology, and standing committee member of the Committee of Digestive surgery of the Chinese Research Hospital Society. The vice president of China Association of Digestive Surgery of the World Endoscopic Physicians Association. The chairman of Shandong Research Hospital Association Biliary Surgery Branch. etc.

Currently as the member of the International Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Association (IHPBA), the member of Asia Pacific Association of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Association (A-PHPBA), the member of the International Liver Cancer Association (ILCA), the member of European Association of Endoscopic Surgeons (EAES), the member of the International Association of Surgeons, Gastroenterologists and Oncologists (IASGO), the member of the International Society of Liver Surgeons (ISLS), the member of International Laparoscopic Liver Society(ILLS), etc.

Dr. Zhi has been engaged in general surgery for 35 years, competent for general surgery, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery including the diagnosis and treatment of the common diseases, and major difficult operations. He mainly good at hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery and laparoscopic surgery. He has many experiences in fiber choledochoscopy, laparoscopy and other diagnosis and treatment techniques. He has his unique management style for difficult and important surgery in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. Since entering the field of laparoscopic surgery in 1992, many kinds of laparoscopic procedures have been carried out one after another. The surgical procedures have been extended from laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC) and choledocholithotomy to dozens of surgical procedures, such as stomach, colorectal tumors ,and hepatobiliary and pancreatic malignant tumors, he has made great contributions to the development of laparoscopic surgery in Shandong Province. Since 2000, he studied laparoscopic surgery and hepatobiliary surgery at Hong Kong United Christian Hospital, University of Kentucky Hospital Minimally Invasive Surgery Center and the Third Army military Medical University Southwest Hospital.

The main research directions are recurrence and metastasis of hepatobiliary tumors and targeted therapy, basic and clinical research of laparoscopic surgery.As a postgraduate tutor, he  has trained 88 master and doctoral students. He has hold and participated in 8 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation and other national and provincial scientific research projects, and won the Shandong Province Science and Technology Progress Award(the first,second and third) for 7 times, was Qilu famous doctors ,and selected as member of Shandong Famous Medical Doctor Union, won the Second Award of Science and Technology Progress of the Ministry of Education (No .2). He has published more than 100 medical papers (including SCI).
