Having graduated from the seven-year integrated programme in Clinical Medicine at Shandong University,Professor Chen received his Master’s degree in Neurosurgical Medicine in 1996, followed by his Ph.D. in 2003. Following this, he conducted further study at Jichi Medical University in Japan, investigating neural stem cells in neurodegenerative diseases. He then worked as a post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Neurosurgery, Huashan Hospital Fudan University for two years. This was followed by a visiting clinical academic fellowship in Queen's Medical Centre at the University of Nottingham, UK, during which he conducted clinical attachments and academic research in functional neurosurgery and minimally invasive surgery. As Professor of Neurosurgery, he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, hemifacial spasm, and other functional neurosurgical diseases. He has extensive experience and expertise in conducting minimally invasive surgeries to treat patients with severe traumatic brain injury, complicated CNS tumors, and congenital neurosurgical diseases. In the research field, Professor Chen has led a number of research projects funded by national and provincial grants as principle investigator. He has published over 30 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and acted as editor-in-chief for academic monographs for the Ministry of Health. He also serves on scientific committees as a council member of Shandong Association of Epilepsy, Shandong Association of Pain Medicine, and editorial board of the Journal of Shandong University.
