Chen Xin Leads Delegation to Oman for Exchange Visit

Recently, in response to the Belt and Road Initiative and in alignment with President Xi’s key speeches at the First China-Arab States Summit and the First China-Gulf Cooperation Council Summit, Chen Xin, Chairman of the College Council and Chairman of the Hospital Council, led a delegation to Oman for an exchange visit. The visit aimed to foster cooperative relationships between Qilu Hospital and Oman’s Ministry of Health, medical education institutions, and hospitals. The delegation included Cheng Yufeng, Vice President of Qilu Hospital, Lü Ming, Director of the Education Department, Xu Shuqian, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Department, etc.

During the visit, the delegation held discussions with Wang Xuhong, Charge d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Oman, focusing on medical cooperation and cultural exchange between China and Oman. Chen Xin emphasized Qilu Hospital’s commitment to leveraging its strengths in medical treatment, education and research to deepen collaboration with Oman and other Gulf countries, promoting global health following the Belt and Road Initiative. The visit was an opportunity to enhance Qilu Hospital’s international influence and further its development in medical services, academic research, and talent cultivation. Cheng Yufeng delivered a lecture titled “Scientific Healthcare for Better Health Management”, providing guidance to embassy staff on health management.


At the Ministry of Health in Oman, the delegation met with Dr. Ahmed Al Mandhari, Deputy Minister of Health, for discussions on smart hospital construction and operation. Chen Xin introduced the development of Qilu Hospital and its leadership in smart healthcare in China, expressing a willingness to share achievements and collaborate with Oman. Cheng Yufeng gave a keynote speech on “Smart Hospital Construction and Operation,” highlighting Qilu Hospital’s accomplishments in emergency 5G medical care, telemedicine, and smart system construction. Dr. Ahmed Al Mandhari discussed with the delegation on the how smart healthcare system can be developed and applied to Oman. Both parties agreed to explore deeper cooperation to innovate smart medical technologies and services, thus to contribute to global health.
The delegation also visited University Medical City (UMC) in Oman and met with its CEO, Siham Al Sinani, to promote collaboration in medical research and academic development. Lü Ming presented on “Integrated Construction of Clinical Practice, Teaching, and Research,” sharing Qilu Hospital’s achievements in research, clinical practice and integrated development of academic disciplines in zero-magnetic medicine. Both parties discussed potential collaborative research projects during a tour of UMC’s facilities.

The delegation attended the 20th International Symposium on Atherosclerosis (ISA 2024) held in Oman for experts and scholars from all over the world to discuss the latest research advances and clinical applications in this field, where they shared Qilu Hospital’s innovations in precision medicine, chronic disease management, and smart healthcare. Chen Xin and Cheng Yufeng were honored as honorary chairpersons of the symposium for their contributions to atherosclerosis research.
This exchange visit has strengthened the cultural ties between China and Oman while advancing mutual understanding. Future cooperation by both sides will focus on deepening exchanges and cooperation in healthcare, contributing to the improvement of public health and quality of life according to the “Belt and Road Initiative”, and the development of global health.
