Peng Jun awarded “China’s Good Doctors &Nurses”

Recently, Professor Peng Jun, Executive Deputy Director of the Department of Hematology of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University was awarded “China’s Good Doctors &Nurses” in January, 2022. The selection was conducted by the Civilization Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China.

The online recommendation and evaluation of “China’s Good Doctors &Nurses” aims to discover and publicize advanced and typical feats of outstanding medical workers in the national health system. 10 outstanding medical workers including Professor Jun were selected as monthly figures in January 2022.

Peng Jun, Executive Deputy Director of the Department of Hematology of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, Professor, Ph.D. advisor, is also the Vice Dean of the Advanced Medical Research Institute of Shandong University, and Distinguished Professor of the Changjiang Scholars Program. Peng Jun was awarded the second prize of the Natural Science Award of Shandong Science and Technology Award in 2010, the National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation in 2011, Distinguished Professor of the Changjiang Scholars Award Program of the Ministry of Education in 2015, Excellent Ph.D. Thesis Instructor of Shandong Province in 2018 and 2019, and the first prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of the College Scientific Research Outstanding Outcomes Award in 2019. In recent years, Peng Jun has devoted himself to the diagnosis and treatment of common hematological diseases such as primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), aplastic anemia and leukemia, focusing on cellular and molecular immunology of ITP. He studied the mechanism of immune intolerance and tolerance reconstruction of ITP from many angles, provided new ideas for patients to restore immune tolerance, and applied the scientific research results to clinical practice. By revealing the new pathogenesis of ITP, the stratified treatment was realized, which achieved good therapeutic effect. At present, Peng Jun has published more than 50 SCI papers, of which 14 have been published in Blood, the top magazine in the field of Hematology globally. He has successively presided over more than 10 national projects, including key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, integrated projects, and key supported projects of major research plans, sub-subject of the “973 Project” of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and key science and technology research projects of the Ministry of Education. Peng also participated in the formulation of the 2016, 2018 and 2020 edition of the Chinese Expert Consensus on Diagnosis and Treatment of Adult Primary Immune Thrombocytopenia(guidelines). He is currently Vice Chairman of the Experimental Hematology Committee of Chinese Association of Pathophysiology, and Vice Chairman of the Hematology Branch of Shandong Provincial Medical Association, etc. Peng is also the editorial board member of Thrombosis Journal, Thrombosis Research, Journal of Clinical Hematology, and Chinese Journal of Hematology.
