Dr. Wang received his doctoral degree from Xiangya School of Pharmacy, Central South University, Changsha, China, in 2005. He got postdoctoral training in University of Oklahoma between 2005 and 2009, then joined University of Oklahoma as assistant professor from 2009 to 2011. In 2012, he joined Qilu Hospital of Shandong University in China as a tenured professor. He was elected Fellow of American College of Cardiology (FACC). In 2019, he was promoted to a distinguished professor. His lab has been mainly focusing on the molecular mechanism of vascular remodeling. He is recognized for making influential discoveries in cardiovascular research, including identifying the role of two key proteins involved in the vessel pathology that leads to vascular diseases, such as GTP cyclohydrolase 1 (GTPCH1) and AMP-activated kinase (AMPK). He has published 60 peer-recognized papers including some papers published in Nature Medicine, Circulation, Circulation Research, Diabetes, etc. The H index is 23.
