Professor Xiaoping Ji, a member of the Communist Party of China, chief physician, Ph.D. Advisor, is currently the deputy director in the department of cardiology in Qilu Hospital, Shandong University. As a member of the first generation of Ph.D. graduates in angiocardiopathy specialty of Shandong province, Dr. Ji got his PhD in Shandong Medical University in 1998. He was promoted to associate professor in 1996 in abnormality and to professor in 2003. In 2004, Dr. Ji became the youngest doctoral supervisor in medical college of Shandong University. From 2005 to 2006, he studied in Hartford Hospital as a visiting scholar.

Clinical work and scientific research: Working in the clinic for more than 30 years, professor Ji is an nationally established expert in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases especially in the sub-specialty of heart failure. In addition to patient care, as a Director, he is also responsible for the training of interns, residents, fellows and junior faculties in the hospital. Besides his enriching decades of clinical experience, he has also made significant academic accomplishment. Professor Ji established the chronic myocardial hibernating animal model for the first time in China, preliminarily clarified the occurrence mechanism and clinical diagnosis method of cardiac hibernation, reaching the international leading level. And that earned him the Excellent Doctorial Thesis award in Shandong province. As the main participant, he firstly carried out advanced technologies such as multi-plane trans-esophageal echocardiography, dynamic three-dimensional echocardiography, myocardial contrast echocardiography, dynamic analysis of color ventricular wall, energy Doppler, myocardial acoustic density analysis, intravascular ultrasound and real-time three-dimensional echocardiography in China. In recent years, he has undertaken the research work of SHIFT and ATMOSPHERE, two international multi-center clinical trials. . As the main person in charge, professor Ji participated in and completed a number of domestic clinical trials and investigation studies, providing valuable clinical efficacy evidence for the frontier progress of cardiology. He has been in charge of two research programs funded by National Science Foundation of China, one national key basic research development program sub-project, two research programs funded by Shandong Provincial Science Foundation, one program funded by scientific research award fund for Outstanding young and middle-aged scientists of Shandong Province, one funded by Shandong Science and Technology Commission, and one funded by youth Science and Technology Fund of Shandong Health Department. As a major participant, he participated in 23 national, provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects, such as the National Key basic Research development Plan and the preliminary research project of the 973 Plan, and there was accumulated more than 4 million scientific research funds. Professor Ji won the second prize of Shandong Province Science and Technology Progress award (the first place), Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award of the first Session of Shandong Province and Shandong University (the first place); As a major participant, he has won one National Science and Technology Progress Award and 4 provincial and ministerial Science and technology Progress Awards. As a corresponding author, he has published more than 30 papers indexed by SCI. As a doctoral supervisor, he has trained more than 60 doctoral and master students.
